To those first-time visitors: Welcome to our website. Feel welcome to browse around and read up on Almenkerk Wine Estate! Life is beautiful on Almenkerk Wine Estate. Our second vintage Sauvignon blanc 2010 is getting great reviews; the latest one by Neil Pendock. Since selling out of the 2010 Chardonnay, we are finding it difficult to hold back on the next vintage. Winemaker Joris is adamant: we release the wine when it is ready. The same goes for our 2010 Syrah which is maturing in bottle right now. Please bear with us - you won't be dissapointed! We also received a bit of recognition and confirmation by the fact that our maiden vintage Sauvignon blanc 2009 has been selected for the 2012 Nederburg Wine Auction. A great honour indeed! In the meantime, our new range: Lace by Almenkerk is being well received. The Red Blend 2010 seems to be a real crowd-pleaser. We got some great ratings from Wine-Style, realtimewine, Classic Wine Magazine & Chistian Eedes. The 2011 white, with it's upfront fruit and lingering finish is selling almost too quickly & the 2011 rosé - a more serious rosé with some wooding and a savoury finish - is gaining a loyal following. Visitors are increasing and - possible more importantly - returning to taste and buy some more. Some reviews stands out: the Foodie, westerncapewineries.blogspot, Le Helderberg Magazine & SpitorSwallow Meanwhile, the 2011 reds are maturing in barrel. We have some real gems ageing in our barrels. Especially the Syrah and the Cabernet franc are highly promising. The concentration of fruit and elegant structure of the Syrah really stands out, while the Cab franc is already showing itself as a classic wine.
